Destinations Bhutan
 

Archaeologists believe Bhutan was inhabited as early as 2000 BC. Although Buddhism may have been introduced in Bhutan as early as 2nd century, the general belief is that it happened when Guru Rinpoche arrived in Bhutan in the 7th century AD.

 
Western Bhutan
Thimphu
THIMPHU
Thimphu, the only capital city in the world without traffic lights, is a mixture of the old and new. Tradition and modern developments exists hand in hand. The city is as colorful during the night as it's during the day. Amongst its many attractions are the massive Trashi Chhoedzong that houses the throne room of the monarch, National Memorial Chorten (stupa), the colorful weekend market, National Institute for Zorig Chusum (13 art forms),National Textile Museum, Folk Heritage Museum, National Library, and National Takin Reserve.
Paro
PARO
The Paro valley is one of the most beautiful in Bhutan. The kingdom's only airport is located here. It's the first impression the guests are going to get of Bhutan on entry. With offerings like the Taktshang (tiger's lair) monastery, Paro Rinpung dzong, National Museum, Kyichu Lhakhang and the ruins of Drugyal dzong, Paro will not fail to inspire and impress our guests.
Punakha
PUNAKHA
Just within 3-hour drive from Thimphu lies Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan. Located at the junction of the Mo Chhu (female river) and Pho Chhu (male river), stands the impressive structure that is Punakha dzong. The Punakha Domchoe is a festival that you can't miss. Punakha valley is also where you'll get to visit the famous Chimmi Lhakhang built by the Divine Madman to supress a man-eating demoness.
Central Bhutan
Trongsa
TRONGSA
A 7-hour drive from Thimphu will take you to Trongsa which is a historically important place. Located centrally, it played a vital role leading up to the establishment of monarchy in the country. Its main attraction is the Trongsa dzong, the longest dzong in the whole country.
Bumthang
BUMTHANG
About two and half-hour drive from Trongsa lies the beautiful Bumthang valley which is often nicknamed the Switzerland of Bhutan. Bumthang is home to many ancient temples and monasteries. The most famous ones are the Kurjey Lhakhang and Jampey Lhakhang. Other attractions are the Jakar dzong and the Mebartsho (burning lake) in the Tang valley. And while in the valley, don't forget to try out the locally produced Panda beer and cheese.
Eastern Bhutan
 
TRASHIGANG
The town of Trashigang is a small but fascinating one. It's one of the commercial hubs of the eastern region. From here, you could travel to Trashi Yangtse, Khaling (famous for textiles), Radhi and other parts of eastern Bhutan.
 
GOMKORA
On the way to Trashi Yangtse you'll come across a temple on the bank of the Drangmetse river. This is the famed Gomkora lhakhang. It is famous for its unique celebration of its Tshechu festival in the second lunar month (March/April).
